Students and residents in Warrnambool are a step closer to having a state-of-the-art learning and library hub, with the Andrews Labor Government appointing an architect to design the project.

Kosloff Architecture has been appointed to design the next stage in the $20.25 million project, which will deliver a learning and library hub at South West TAFE's Warrnambool campus. This is a joint project with the Warrnambool City Council.

The new hub in the heart of Warrnambool will be open to the community and include public computers, exhibition and display areas, places to study, meeting rooms, and a games and digital media zone.

South West TAFE's Warrnambool campus is an important asset for the region, creating learning and employment opportunities for a more skilled local workforce.

A builder is expected to be appointed in December 2020, completion of the project expected in early 2022, with the new facility opening in mid-2022.

Since 2015, the Labor Government has committed more than $1.3 billion to rebuild our TAFE system and ensure students can get the skills they need for the jobs they want.

As noted by Minister for Training and Skills and Member for Western Victoria Gayle Tierney

"The new learning and library hub is on track for delivery and students and community members will soon benefit from these exciting new facilities."

"We're proud to be investing more than $17 million to modernise South West TAFE so that all local students have access to a great local TAFE."

As stated by Warrnambool City Council Mayor, Cr Tony Herbert

"The new learning and library hub will be a welcome and inclusive place for all, from parents with preschoolers and students to long-time public library goers and those needing access to modern digital resources."

As stated by South West TAFE CEO, Mark Fidge

"The project will provide our region with more than a state-of-the-art library, it will also be a place for interaction and learning for all – which is a wonderful outcome that will greatly benefit our community in the future."
