Are you looking for a career supporting frontline police?

The QPS currently employs more than 15,000 operational police officers and unsworn members including Client Services Officers (CSO) at Policelink, who's core responsibility is to deliver a high quality 24-hour contact service. Policelink is a 24/7 contact centre that takes enquiries from frontline officers and non-urgent policing matters for the entire state.

CSO Jake Threlfall, who has a background in construction and hospitality, joined the Policelink team over 12 months ago. After applying for a CSO position, Jake had 20 weeks of training - half of which were learning all about his new role and how he can assist his community and operational colleagues and another 10 weeks with a one on one mentor.

"You go from literally zero to knowing everything that the police do," he said.

"If a member of the public has a matter that is happening now and requires police attention, they will be transferred through to Triple Zero (000).

"If it is a matter that's happened after the fact, they'll call us at Policelink.

"We get calls about all types of policing matters including general police work and speeding tickets, right up to very complex things that we need specialist advice on."

Prior to applying for the role, Jake said he expected to be on the phone and was pleasantly surprised with the variety of work in his CSO role.

"The most rewarding thing about the role of a CSO is having the opportunity to give a solution to someone who is essentially having the worst day of their life," he said.

"You need to be able to provide that support to them and end that call saying I'm going to get you some assistance."

Acting Superintendent Kevin Fitzgibbon said Policelink were currently looking for suitable applicants.

"We are looking at recruiting more CSOs state-wide to deliver positive outcomes to the QPS and the community," Acting Superintendent Fitzgibbon said.

"Policelink has come a long way since its establishment over 11 years ago.

"If any members of the public are looking at a new career that keeps people safe, gives people comfort, care and reassurance, I ask that you give a profession with Policelink consideration."

If you are interested in a role at Policelink as a CSO, Jake encourages you to apply.

"It doesn't matter who you are or where you are from, you will be trained on the job and continue to grow in the role," he said.

"It is a really rewarding career and a great way to service the community."

Policelink are currently accepting CSO applications until Wednesday, June 2.
