Armed robbery appeal, Southport

Police are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery in Southport this morning, August 23.

Initial investigations indicate just after 1am, a man entered a service station along Marine Parade where he threatened a shop assistant with a gun, demanding money from the cash register.

The shop assistant complied, and no one was physically injured.

The man left the scene on foot with a quantity of cash.

Detectives from Southport Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) have released vision of a man they believe may be able to assist their enquiries and are asking him, or anyone who may recognise him, to come forward.

Witnesses or anyone with relevant vision are also urged to contact police.

Investigations are continuing.
