Armed robbery at Ascot Vale pharmacy

Detectives from Fawkner Crime Investigation Unit are appealing for public assistance following an armed robbery in Ascot Vale on Friday (26 October), Victoria Police say.

Police have been told a man entered the Union Road pharmacy just before 10.30pm.

He approached the counter and made demands for the pharmacist to hand over medication.

Whilst he was standing at the counter, he pulled out a small firearm from his pocket and pointed it at the staff member and threatened him/her.

The staff member handed over a quantity of medication and the man fled the store on foot to a vehicle parked outside the store.

He is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, approximately 188cm tall and was wearing ¾ length shorts, a blue long sleeve top and a black or navy and white beanie with sandals.

Two staff members, a 26-year-old Strathmore woman and a 23-year-old Footscray woman and a male security guard were physically uninjured during the incident.

The vehicle is described as an older model grey sedan.

Investigators have released CCTV and images of a man they believe can assist with their enquiries. .
