Armed robbery charges in Narrabri

A Taree man is due to appear in court after a store in north-western NSW was allegedly held up with a blood-filled syringe, NSW Police say.

Police from Barwon Local Area Command issued an appeal for public assistance following the armed robbery of a discount store at Narrabri about 10.30am on Sunday 9 October 2016.

Police will allege a man armed with a blood-filled syringe threatened an 18-year-old woman working in the store, demanding cash.

Following investigations, a 21-year-old man was arrested at a home in Short Street, Taree, about 2pm yesterday.

He was taken to Taree Police Station where he was charged with robbery while armed with an offensive weapon.

The man was refused bail and will appear in Forster Local Court today.
