Armed robbery charges in North Brisbane, QLD

Police have charged four people following a series of incidents in North Brisbane overnight, Queensland Police say.

At around 7:30pm a woman was approached by a man on Joyden Road as she parked her car.

The man allegedly produced a small axe and threatened the woman, demanding her keys before fleeing the scene in the stolen vehicle.

Police conducted patrols and the vehicle was later seen by officers on Robinson Road in Geebung.

The car was tracked with the assistance of Polair until it entered the grounds of an educational facility on Childers Street in Kedron.

When officers moved to intercept the vehicle it will be alleged it reversed at speed, colliding with the front of the police vehicle.

The car then drove onto a nearby oval when it became stuck and the four people inside attempted to flee on foot.

Two female passengers were taken into custody near the car, however the male driver and front passenger fled to Colac Street in Kedron.

Officers gave chase, taking one man into custody without incident.

It will be alleged as the second man fled he approached another man in front of his home on Colac Street, demanding his vehicle.

He then allegedly entered the car and locked the doors, refusing to leave when officers approached.

The man allegedly brandished a hammer at police before officers deployed a police dog into the vehicle, resulting in the man receiving a bite to his arm, allowing police to disarm the man and take him into custody.

The man was assessed at the scene but did not require transportation to hospital for treatment.

A 27-year-old Wilsonton Heights man has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, armed robbery, unlawful use of motor vehicle, failing to stop, possessing dangerous drugs, wilful damage and driving without a licence.
