Armed robbery with violence in Sunnybank, QLD

Police are investigating a violent armed robbery that occurred this evening in Sunnybank, Queensland Police say.

Shortly after 7pm, a man armed with a firearm entered the Beenleigh Road convenience store.

Once inside the man threatened a male employee before the pair became involved in a physical altercation.

The staff member attempted to disarm the attacker but was unsuccessful and was struck over the head with the weapon.

His attacker fled the business on foot and was last seen heading south on Jackson Road.

A 50-year-old man was taken to the Princess Alexandria Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Anyone who may have seen any suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident is urged to contact police.

Investigations are continuing.
