Arrest after 2016 Mandurah building fire, WA

Arson Squad detectives have charged a 46 year old man as a result of their investigation into a fire at a commercial premise in Mandurah on 21 September 2016.

Just after 5am, Police and the Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) were called to reports of a fire at a commercial premise located on Dower Street., WA Police say

The building was destroyed by the fire and the cost of damage to the building was estimated at $1.9 million dollars.

It is alleged the fire started as a result of the man using an angle grinder to gain entry to the building.

The man of no fixed address has been charged with:-

•Breach of Duty and

•Attempt Burglary.

He is due to appear before the Stirling Gardens Magistrates Court on Wednesday 8 March 2017.
