Arrest and Charges - Assault and other offences - Muirhead

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 14-year-old male in relation to the alleged assault of a carer which occurred on Monday 28 October, 2019 in Muirhead.

At about 10:30pm on Monday night, police responded to a disturbance at a residential care home during which a 14-year-old male allegedly assaulted his 45-year-old carer causing the carer to flee the premises.

Investigations into this incident were conducted with no complaint being made on the night. The following day the victim provided a formal complaint to police.

As a result at about 3:45pm on Tuesday 29 October 2019, the 14-year-old youth was arrested by members of Strike Force Trident and later formally charged with the below offences:

  • Armed with an offensive weapon (aggravated)
  • Assault a worker
  • Damage to property
  • Stealing
  • Breach of bail

The youth was remanded in custody and will appear in the Youth Justice Court on Monday 11 November, 2019.
