Arrest and extradition from NSW of man charged with historic sex offences., TAS

Police have charged at 52 year old man with Indecent assault and Maintaining a sexual relationship with a young person, Tasmania Police say.

The man from Ingleburn in NSW is a former resident of Tasmania and cannot be named for legal reasons.

He was arrested on Monday, 30 January 2017, in NSW at the request of Detectives from Kingston CIB who attended the man’s Extradition Hearing in the Campbelltown Magistrates Court on Tuesday, 31 January 2017. The NSW court ordered the man’s extradition to Tasmania.

The alleged offending occurred in Tasmania between 2000 and 2006.

The man appeared in the Hobart Magistrates Court today where he was remanded in custody to appear on Monday 6 February 2017.
