Arrest- Assault Police at Tennant Creek

Northern Territory Police have arrested a 54-year-old man after he allegedly assaulted three police officers this morning.

At about 9:30am, police were attending a residence in Tennant Creek in relation to an alleged domestic violence incident. The man has resisted arrest and allegedly assaulted three officers, causing minor injuries.

The man has been arrested and is expected to be charged with three counts of assault a police officer.

Investigations are continuing into the alleged domestic violence incident.

Commander Craig Laidler said, "We take a zero tolerance approach to both domestic violence and to assaults upon our members. People have a right to be safe within their own home and our officers have a right to go about their duties without being assaulted. This kind of behaviour is disgusting, won't be tolerated, and persons who assault police will be prosecuted. "
