Arrest Made After Mawson Lakes Fast-Food Disturbance

Police have arrested a man after causing a disturbance at a fast-food restaurant in Mawson Lakes yesterday afternoon.

At 3.30pm on Tuesday 2 December, a man entered a restaurant on Salisbury Highway and allegedly smashed the counter with a tyre lever, threatened staff and demanded food.

The man stole food items and drove off in a Hyundai sedan along Elder Smith Drive. Thankfully no one was injured during the incident.

Following investigations, about 6pm, police attended a Parafield Gardens address where the suspect made threats towards police and refused to exit the property.

Police negotiated with the man for several hours. Just before midnight, the 44-year-old man from the address was arrested without further incident.

He was charged with assault, carry offensive weapon and theft and further weapons offences after a search of his home allegedly uncovered several knives.

He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court later today.
