Arrest Made After Tonsley Break In

An intruder was arrested after breaking into a Tonsley business overnight.

About 12.30am Wednesday 30 July, fire crews were called at a commercial premises on MAB Circuit for reports of a fire alarm. It will be alleged that on arrival, they found no signs of a fire, instead locating an intruder inside a café who was armed with a knife. Fire fighters retreated and patrols quickly attended, cordoning the area.

Police Dog Gus and his handler entered the café where they located the suspect and took him safely into custody.

Police located damage to an entry door where police believe the suspect gained entry to the cafe.

The 31-year-old man from Glynde was charged with serious criminal trespass and carrying an offensive weapon. He did not apply for bail and will appear in the Christies Beach Magistrates Court later today.

Thankfully no one was injured during this incident.
