Police have arrested a 35-year-old man following an aggravated assault that occurred in Alice Springs early this morning.
Around 3:25am, members from the Social Order Unit were exiting the Alice Springs Police Station when they observed two men fighting near the station entrance.
It is alleged one of the men assaulted the other with an edged weapon, causing a laceration to the victim's left forearm.
Upon police approach, the alleged offender fled the scene on foot.
St John Ambulance attended and conveyed the 38-year-old victim to Alice Springs Hospital for treatment.
Police located and arrested the alleged offender nearby, who was found to be in possession of a pair of scissors and a small quantity of cannabis.
The 35-year-old was taken into custody, and charges are expected to follow.
