WA Police Force officers have charged the first person under the new Intimate Images legislation which makes it a criminal offence to the non-consensual distribution of intimate images.
A 24-year-old man was involved in a relationship with a 24-year-old woman victim and during this relationship the man took consensual intimate images of the woman.
It will be alleged when the relationship broke down, the man created a false Instagram page in the victim's name and posted seven intimate images of her without her consent.
It will be further alleged when the Instagram page was removed, four other Instagram pages were created in the victim's name and a total of 10 intimate images were posted.
The 24-year-old man from Spearwood has been charged with Distribute Intimate Image of Another Person without their Consent. He is due to appear before the Fremantle Magistrates Family Violence Court on 20 May 2019.
