Arrests and crops seized during cannabis operation

Melton Crime Investigation Unit detectives have arrested a two men and a woman and seized a large number of plants during a week-long operation targeting crop houses, Victoria Police say.

Police executed search warrants at eight homes in the Brookfield, Melton West, Rockbank, Caroline Springs and Burnside Heights areas, as part of Operation Neckties, between Monday and this morning.

Investigators seized a total of 837 cannabis plants and a firearm.

A 53-year-old Melton West woman was arrested at a Melton West house on Wednesday.

She was remanded to appear at Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on the 8 March charged with cultivate a commercial quantity of cannabis, possess cannabis, traffick cannabis and theft.

Investigators arrested a 26-year-old man at his Caroline Springs home yesterday.

He was charged and bailed to appear at Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on the 19 March charged with cultivate cannabis, possess cannabis, traffick cannabis and theft.

Following the execution of a search warrant at a Burnside Heights home this morning detectives seized a small number of plants and arrested the occupant.

The 31-year-old man has been bailed to appear at Sunshine Magistrates’ Court on the 23 March charged with cultivating cannabis, possess cannabis and theft.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are likely.
