Arrests following firearms incident in South Yarra

Police have arrested three males following a firearms incident in South Yarra this morning, Victoria Police say.

Police have been told an altercation took place between four of males on Chapel Street near Malvern Road just before 4.30am.

It is alleged one of the males was armed with a firearm but no one was injured during the incident.

Three men, two of those believed to have been involved in the altercation and the driver of the car, were arrested a short time later in a car that was intercepted at Cecil Place.

A search of the vehicle was conducted and a hand gun was located under the car.

The exact circumstances surrounding the altercation, and whether or not shots were fired, is yet to be determined.

The three men are currently being interviewed.
