Arson investigation - Nome house fire

A crime scene declared at a suspicious house fire in Nome last night remains in place as police and fire investigators return to the scene today to carry out further investigations.

Around 9pm a vehicle was seen driving away from the Barnham Road property just before flames were noticed coming from a house situated on the acreage property.

Preliminary investigations indicate that entry was forced to the vacant house as well as an adjacent donga (storage shed).

The fire gutted the house and damaged the donga.

Detectives are appealing for anyone with information, or anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area, to contact them.
