Community members are invited to celebrate the opening of Artrise, Sunbury's new Arts and Culture hub, at a community day on Saturday 14 March.
The free, family-friendly event is an opportunity to explore the newly refurbished facilities at Jacksons Hill, while enjoying a day of creativity, culture and community.
The revitalisation of the site blends history with modern purpose, transforming the buildings once home to the Women's Refractory Ward and shed to make way for a space for creativity and community collaboration.
Our anchor users currently in residence at the facility, who have tenancy agreements in place and are already working out of the space, will be on site at the open event to discuss their exciting new projects.
There will also be activities, demonstrations, and live entertainment to enjoy.
Beginning construction in 2025, the redevelopment of Jacksons Hill comes following community consultation, partnership with an appointed Community Advisory Group, and an ongoing collaborative process with local creatives and the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung Cultural Heritage Aboriginal Corporation.
We thank all involved groups for this combined effort that ensures the protection of the site's historical and cultural significance as it takes on new life.
The project has also been made possible with the support of the Victorian Government, helping us turn our vision for renewing the much-loved Sunbury site into reality.
The Artrise Community Day will be held from 2pm - 8pm. Limited parking is available on site; however a shuttle bus service will be available from the train station and rear of Council offices in Brook Street.
