Logan's talented young people have taken centre stage as Logan Art Gallery hosts the popular student exhibition Artwaves.
Now in its 34th year, the annual exhibition shares the work of 148 emerging artists from 30 secondary schools.
Logan Mayor Jon Raven said Artwaves put the spotlight on local young people.
"Logan is the youngest city in Queensland, which means we have some of the state's most talented artists."
The exhibition showcases a wide range of creative techniques, demonstrating the depth of young artists while encouraging confidence and self-expression.
"Whether they dream of a career in the arts or just love being creative, Artwaves gives the next generation a chance to flex their talent in a professional setting," Mayor Raven said.
Park Ridge State High School Year 12 student Amali White is taking part in Artwaves for the first time, with two photographs selected for display.
"It's great being given the opportunity to show my work," she said.
Amali's photographs use long-exposure techniques, combining light painting and photography to create striking visual effects.
The images were produced as part of a lighting folio for her Certificate II in Visual Arts.
After school, Amali plans to use her photography skills in her older sister's maternity photography business.
Artwaves will be on display at Logan Art Gallery until October 24.
The gallery is open from 10am to 4pm, Tuesday to Saturday, and entry is free.
