Global law firm Ashurst announces the appointment of energy and infrastructure lawyer Anne Wicks as partner in the Projects & Energy Transition practice based in Abu Dhabi, in a boost to Ashurst's energy and project development capabilities in the Middle East.
Anne has built a career advising sponsors, developers, governmental entities and financial institutions on all aspects of project development for complex energy projects globally and particularly in the Middle East. She focuses on large-scale, market-first energy projects, across oil and gas, power and utilities and new energy technologies, as well as advising on ESG and compliance aspects of the energy sector.
Welcoming Anne, Global head of Projects & Energy Transition, Lee McDonald, said: "Our energy and infrastructure offering is a strategic strength and real priority for Ashurst. The addition of Anne to our global bench underscores our clear ambition to continue broadening our capabilities for existing clients while also seizing new opportunities, both in the Middle East and globally."
David Charlier, co-head of Projects & Energy Transition (EMEA), added: "We are delighted to welcome Anne to our growing team in the Middle East, a further demonstration of the firm's continued momentum and investment in the region. Anne brings deep client relationships, outstanding sector expertise and a proven track record that will be a tremendous asset to our clients, further strengthening our already market-leading platform."
Anne Wicks said: "Ashurst's meaningful and strategic growth in the Middle East has resulted in an impressive platform for clients across the region. The firm's ambition and commitment in both the Middle East and the Projects & Energy Transition space made joining an incredibly exciting prospect, and I look forward to working with the team to further build on that momentum."
Ashurst's Middle East team continues to invest in growing in the region, having more than doubled to over 20 partners in under two years. Anne's arrival follows the hire of project finance partner Nezar Al Abbas in Saudi Arabia as well as the recent additions of real estate partner Chris Beaumont-McQuillan in Abu Dhabi and digital economy partner Alex Brazeau in Dubai.
