Global law firm Ashurst has advised the Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) in respect of the State Route (SR) 400 Express Lanes project in Atlanta, Georgia, which reached financial close on Tuesday, Aug. 5. This is the first express lanes project to reach financial close under Georgia DOT's Major Mobility Investment Program (MMIP) and aims to reduce congestion and increase travel time reliability across metro Atlanta.
The project is being delivered by the state's developer partner, SR 400 Peach Partners, LLC (ACS Infrastructure, Acciona Concessions and Meridiam) as a public-private partnership, or P3, who is responsible for design, construction, and all operations, maintenance, and rehabilitation of the project for an approximately 56-year period.
The project will deliver 16 miles of new express toll lanes on the SR 400 corridor in Fulton and Forsyth counties. Construction is targeted for completion in September 2031.
Ashurst partner Gareth Sage commented: "This is a significant milestone for our client Georgia DOT. It is the culmination of a significant effort by our client and its key advisors, including Ashurst. We are pleased to have played a role in closing the first Express Lanes project in Georgia DOT's transformative program."
Ashurst continues to advise the Department in respect of the MMIP.
The Ashurst team is led by partners Betty Cerini, Gareth Sage and Matt Rickards, and supported by the wider US Projects team.
