ASIC Revokes Chuuse Pty Ltd Credit Licence

ASIC

ASIC has cancelled the Australian credit licence (credit licence) of Queensland-based credit services provider Chuuse Pty Ltd (ACN 002 170 541) (Chuuse).

The credit licence cancellation look effect on 11 August 2025.

ASIC cancelled the credit licence under section 54(1)(b) of the National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2009 (Cth) after ASIC became aware that Chuuse had ceased to engage in credit activities.

Chuuse has the right to appeal to the Administrative Review Tribunal for a review of ASIC's decision.

Background

Chuuse held credit licence number 423638 since 19 July 2012. It was authorised to engage in credit activities as a credit provider.

Between 23 April 2021 and 8 March 2023, Chuuse's sole director was Mr Darren Thomas Edden-Brown (also known as Darren Brown, Darren Edden Brown and Darren Thomas Brown) (Mr Edden-Brown).

On 12 April 2023, ASIC banned Mr Edden-Brown from engaging in any credit activities and providing financial services for eight years. ASIC also banned Mr Edden-Brown from controlling, or performing any functions as an officer of, an entity that engages in credit activities or carries on a financial services business. ASIC found that Mr Edden-Brown was not fit and proper and was not adequately trained or competent to participate in the credit and financial services industries (23-099MR).
