Assault and firearm charges in Woombye, QLD

Detectives from Nambour have charged a man following investigations of an incident on Saturday morning in Woombye, Queensland Police say.

It will be alleged at around 1pm, a 53-year-old man was struck in the ribs with a chair following an altercation with a 35-year-old man at a residence on Garrad Road.

It will be further alleged, the 35-year-old man made his way to a vehicle where he produced a rifle and discharging the firearm in the air, as well as making several threats.

On Sunday November 12, Detectives executed a search warrant and subsequently arrested and charged a 35-year-old Black Mountain man with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed and one count of threatening violence by discharging a firearm.

He is due to appear at the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on Monday, November 27.
