Assault charge - Lake Macquarie, NSW

A man has been charged over an assault which left a man suffering two skull fractures, brain bleeds and a perforated ear drum in the Lake Macquarie region last month, NSW Police say.

On Saturday 16 September 2017, a 41-year-old man was at a sporting function at Waterboard Oval, Blackalls Park, when he was allegedly punched by another man.

He suffered head injuries and was taken to John Hunter Hospital.

Police from Lake Macquarie Local Area Command have conducted extensive inquiries and today they arrested a 37-year-old man at Belmont Police Station.

The Woongarah man was charged with recklessly inflict grievous bodily harm and granted conditional bail to appear at Toronto Local Court on Tuesday 24 October 2017.
