An 18-year-old man will appear before court on charges relating to an unlawful entry and assault police incident in Alice Springs overnight.

The man was one of a group of unknown offenders who unlawfully entered an arts centre on Larapinta Drive just after 11:30pm.

The group were filling a wheelie bin with alcohol when they were disturbed by the arrival of security. It is alleged they threw bottles of alcohol at a security vehicle resulting in two smashed windows.

Additional security and police arrived on scene and the offenders fled on foot. The quantity of alcohol was found in an alley way 100mtrs away.
