Attempted kidnapping at Vermont South

Police are appealing for information after a teenager was forced into a car in Vermont South last month, Victoria Police say.

Whitehorse Crime Investigation Unit detectives are investigating an incident which took place on Springvale Road, near the intersection of the Burwood Highway, about 3.45pm on Sunday 5 February.

Investigators have been told a 17-year-old Burwood East boy had just gotten off a bus when he was approached by a man from behind.

A black Holden Astra, believed to be driven by a female and containing another man, mounted the curb in front of him and he was forced into the back seat by the man.

The car travelled a short distance around the perimeter of a nearby hotel and the victim managed to escape.

One of the men attempted to grab the victim’s shirt; he managed to push him away before running back along Springvale road and reporting the incident to police.

Investigators have released CCTV images of two men and a woman they believe may be able to assist with their enquiries.

The first man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged in his 30s, about 170com tall with short brown hair.

He was wearing a white t-shirt, khaki shorts and was carrying a backpack.

The second man is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged in his early 30s, and was wearing a black baseball cap, a black t-shirt with "AMITY" written on it, shorts, and Converse shoes.

The woman is perceived to be Caucasian in appearance, aged in her early 30’s, with a solid build, reddish black hair and had a tattoo on her left leg.

She was wearing a black singlet and denim shorts.

Anyone who witnessed the incident or with information about the incident is urged to contact Crime Stoppers.
