Attempted murder charge, Doolandella

A 43-year-old man has been charged with domestic violence offences including attempted murder after a woman was assaulted in Doolandella.

At 8.30am yesterday, police were called to a Wallaroo Way house and located a woman with multiple injuries to her head and body.

A friend of the woman who was concerned for her safety, alerted police of the woman's assault before she was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital in a serious condition.

Detectives will allege a man who is known to the woman, has assaulted her with a hammer and a saw sometime on Friday night. The woman has locked herself in the bathroom for a number of hours before her friend attended the house the next morning.

A 43-year-old Doolandella man has since been charged with attempted murder (domestic violence), deprivation of liberty (domestic violence) and wilful damage (victims phone).

He remains in police custody and will appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court on Monday, February 21.

The woman in her thirties remains in a serious but stable condition in the Royal Brisbane and Women's Hospital.
