Attempted murder charge in Worongary, QLD

Police have charged a man with attempted murder following an alleged assault in Worongary early this morning, Queensland Police say.

At around 7am police were called to an address on Kalabri Court where a 23-year-old woman and 55-year-old man, both from Worongary, had allegedly been stabbed by a 24-year-old man armed with knives.

Police will allege the 24-year-old broke into the house that morning and assaulted the pair and fled prior to police arrival.  Investigations led police to locate the alleged offender in Beechmont a short time later.

The people involved were known to each other.

The 23-year-old and 55-year-old were transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital by QAS with serious injuries.

A 24-year-old Clayfield man has been charged with one count each of attempted murder, acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, common assault and enter dwelling with intent.

He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on October 11.
