Attempted murder charge, Inala

Acacia Ridge detectives have charged a man with attempted murder following an alleged assault of a teenage girl in Inala last night (January 7).

Police will allege that a man and a 17-year-old girl, who are known to each other, were talking in an Inala Street around 9.10pm during which time the girl was seriously assaulted.

Police will allege the girl was strangled, causing her to lose consciousness several times before she finally managed to break free and run to a nearby house for help.

Police attended and arrested a 21-year-old Inala man in the vicinity.

He has been charged with 13 offences including attempted murder, eight counts of strangulation (domestic violence offence), two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count each of deprivation of liberty and contravene a domestic violence order.

He is due to appear in Richlands Magistrates Court today.

The girl was transported to hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.
