Attempted murder charge, Woree

A 26-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder following investigations into an incident at Woree last month.

It will be alleged around 7am on Monday March 18, at a Woree home, the woman assaulted a 7-year-old boy with a knife, causing a cut to his chest.

Another woman is alleged to have intervened and disarmed the 26-year-old and fled with the 7-year-old to a neighbour's house, alerting emergency services.

The woman has been charged with attempted murder and attempted assault occasioning bodily harm.

She is expected to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.

The boy was transported to the Cairns Hospital for treatment of his injuries and has since been released.

All parties are known to each other.
