Attempted murder charges at Mount Isa 5 September

A man has been charged with attempted murder after two women were stabbed in Mount Isa early this morning.

It will be alleged shortly before 5am an altercation occurred at a Pelican Road residence, during which two women received multiple stab wounds.

A 35-year-old woman was transported to Mount Isa Hospital and then airlifted to Townsville University Hospital where she remains in a critical but stable condition.

An 18-year-old woman remains in Mount Isa Hospital in a stable condition.

A 36-year-old man surrendered to the Mount Isa Police Station a short time later and has been charged with two counts of attempted murder (domestic violence) and one count each of rape (domestic violence) and breach of a domestic violence order.

He will appear in the Mount Isa Magistrates Court tomorrow, September 6.

The women and man were known to each other.
