Attempted murder charges, Ripley

A 26-year-old woman has been charged with attempted murder following an incident with a young child in Ripley this morning.

Around 5.30 am, emergency services were called to the Ripley address following reports of an alleged wounding.

On arrival, officers located a three-month-old infant with what appeared to be a stab wound to the abdomen.

Police provided immediate first aid and took a 26-year-old woman who resides at the address with the child, into custody without incident.

The child was transported to hospital in critical condition.

The woman has been held in police custody, to appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court on Monday February 12.

A crime scene has been declared at the house and investigations into the circumstances of the incident are continuing.
