Attempted robbery at Cherbourg

Detectives are investigating the assault and attempted robbery of a 79-year-old man in Cherbourg yesterday afternoon.

At around 4:30pm two teens entered a home on Hillview Street and demanded money from a male occupant.

When the man refused they struck the man with a piece of wood before fleeing the scene on foot.

Emergency services attended the scene and the man was transported to Cherbourg Hospital for treatment of a laceration to his head.
