The University of Cincinnati's Center for Business Analytics welcomed more than 350 attendees to its 13th annual Analytics Summit on May 6 at the Sharonville Convention Center.
This year's theme was "follow the money," centering on where investors and companies are channeling their AI and analytics funding and strategy. A fireside chat, two keynote speakers and 15 available track sessions were constructed around this theme.
Tim Cholvat, the center's executive director, opened the event by welcoming guests and outlining the day's events. Cholvat also presented an overview of the center's mission, which is to connect, teach, learn about and promote the application of business analytics and AI through a community of industry and academic experts.

Lindner dean Marianne Lewis, PhD, and Jude Schramm, Bus '97, chief information officer for Fifth Third Bank, held a fireside chat entitled, "Winning with Customers Through AI and Advanced Analytics." Through that lens, Lewis and Schramm combined their respective expertise to discuss:
- An overview of Fifth Third's integration of and strategy regarding AI
- Navigating tensions between personalization and intrusiveness
- Real-world use cases in banking and enterprise technology
- Contingency plans and internal buffer zones before AI tools are implemented
- Customer trust and the role of human-in-the-loop systems for responsible AI
- Fifth Third's return on investment measurements for AI
Schramm also touched on emerging trends and changes that excite him. He envisions employees being able to enjoy greater productivity and focus on tasks more central to their jobs.
"Human interaction will become a vital part of business interactions," Schramm added.
