Auckland Hill Lookout Rejuvenation Project On Track for 2023 Completion

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

The first phase of the highly anticipated Auckland Hill Lookout Rejuvenation Project is on track for completion later this year, with construction progressing well.

Upon its completion, the revitalised Auckland Hill will feature a contemporary viewing lookout, expanded access to existing walkways, landscaped community spaces, upgraded infrastructure and facilities, as well as additional car parking options.

As part of the first phase, the steps will be revamped to provide safer and more inclusive access, as well as greater opportunity for fitness enthusiasts to test their skills.

In line with the project's vision, the existing kiosk on-site will also undergo a refurbishment. In the coming months, an Expression of Interest process will be opened to potential tenants interested in operating at this iconic location.

The project has received significant financial support, with $5 million in funding committed by the Australian Government and the Gladstone Ports Corporation (GPC) contributing an additional $5 million on behalf of the Queensland Government.

During the construction period, certain areas within the first phase may have restricted access. These areas will be appropriately fenced off and clearly marked to ensure public safety.
