Auckland, NZ declared a hotspot

As a result of the recent community transmission of a variant of concern in Auckland, the Australian Government has declared Auckland to be a Commonwealth Hotspot. This means that any person who has been in Auckland in the last 14 days is not permitted to board a green zone flight to Australia.

The Chief Health Officer has also taken the precaution of directing any person who has arrived in the Northern Territory to be tested for COVID-19 if:

  • They arrived between 19 February 2021 and 5:59pm on 25 February; and
  • They were in any of the locations of interest declared by the NZ Ministry of Health listed below on or about the relevant times and dates listed below.

A person who is in the NT and has been to a location of interest in Auckland must have a COVID-19 test and undertake self-quarantine until a negative test is returned. Please contact the COVID-19 Hotline on 1800 008 002 to book a test. For all other enquiries phone 1800 490 484.

The risk of COVID-19 in our communities cannot be eliminated which is why it is important for everyone to follow all health directions.

  • If you have COVID-19 symptoms, do not travel. Make sure you get tested and stay at home.
  • Maintain a physical distance of 1.5 metres at all times.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water and use hand sanitiser regularly.
  • Do not go to work if you feel sick.
  • If you have symptoms, stay away from others and get tested for COVID-19.
