Auckland Protest: Update 6, Final Update

As stated by Superintendent Naila Hassan, Waitematā District Commander:

Two protest groups gathered in central Auckland have now dispersed.

From the outset, Police have been clear that there would be no unlawful access on to the motorway network or Auckland Harbour Bridge.

In Victoria Park, at its peak Police estimate 1,200 people gathered and marched to our Fanshawe Street cordon, before dispersing.

No arrests have been made today.

I'm immensely proud of all the Police staff deployed on today's operation for their professionalism in response to this event.

Today's operation has been successful in keeping people safe and minimising any disruption to the wider public.

Pleasingly Aucklanders have been able to largely go about their weekend without incident.

We thank the public for their understanding, particularly those motorists who were briefly stopped on the Northern Motorway earlier today.

All cordons and closures have been lifted. However, the Police operation remains active.

Police will continue to monitor for any issues that might arise.
