August 2023 Edition of CMSAF Leadership Library Released

Wingmen,

We live in consequential times, where the leaders we build, and invest in, today will shape our Air Force for generations to come. Airmen, of all ranks, must uphold our commitment to the Profession of Arms and that requires us to be lifelong learners, and to continually develop ourselves and one another.

I'm excited to share three new books, and one podcast, that will help our Airmen grow and refine the skills that will allow us to shape our Air Force into the service our Nation needs.

You continue to be the single, greatest, competitive advantage we have over any adversary or pacing challenge. I am honored to serve alongside you.

What Got You Here Won't Get You There

In this book, Marshall Goldsmith shares how successful people can move to even greater heights by addressing certain habits at work that can jeopardize an otherwise-outstanding career. One of core ideas this book explores is that often the same beliefs that contributed to past success can also hinder future growth.

War Without Rules

In its fight for global dominance, China has thrown out the old rules of war. In "War Without Rules," retired Brig. Gen. Robert Spalding discussed China's new playbook and the alarming reality of how they are working to achieve their goals.

Noise: A Flaw in Human Judgment

This book shows us the detrimental effects of noise in many professional fields. Wherever there is judgment, there is noise. Yet, most of the time, individuals and organizations are unaware of it. With a few simple remedies, people can reduce that noise, and make far better decisions.

The TechTank Podcast

TechTank is a biweekly podcast from Brookings's Center for Technology Innovation, explores today's most consequential technology issues. Moderators Nicol Turner Lee and Darrell West speak with experts and policymakers to share data, ideas, and policy solutions that address the challenges of the digital world.
