Aurizon, Australia's largest rail freight operator, today announced the opening of the first round of its Community Giving Fund for 2023.

Andrew Harding, Managing Director & CEO said community groups and charities located across the Company's operations are invited to apply for cash grants of up to $20,000.

"We are inviting applications from across our national footprint, that fit within the areas of Health and Wellbeing, Community Safety, the Environment or Education.

"With over 80% of our staff living in regional areas, it is important for us to be able to support the communities in which we live and work.

"I am proud to say that over the past 12 years, we have supported more than 540 deserving community groups that are delivering worthwhile local and regional projects to build stronger communities across Australia.

"A great example of what this funding can do is the grant we recently provided to The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation in Western Australia.

"They now have the funds to supply high-quality literature and resources to First Nations children in remote parts of Western Australia, ensuring they obtain the basic literacy and educational resources they need to learn and thrive in the classroom and beyond.

"We are pleased to have been able to provide support to this project," said Mr Harding.
