Australia Day 2021 - Celebrations and Events

Celebrate Australia Day (Tuesday January 26, 2021) at a special COVIDSafe free night time concert in Tamworth's Bicentennial Park with a fireworks finale..

Tamworth Regional Council Manager Events, Barry Harley, said it's a positive move as the region starts to emerge from the COVID-19 pandemic and start to make a safe economic recovery.

"It is great see live entertainment returning in a safe way in light of what our community has been dealing with during most of 2020," he said. "It is important to have access to safe entertainment and community events like this." The Bushwackers with their unique Australiana brand of music will headline the concert and supporting cover band.

The concert is limited to 3,000 people and registration for free tickets before the event is essential. Tickets can be secured at destinationtamworth.com.au

The music will start at 7pm (gates open at 6pm), food stalls and fireworks at 9pm. Concert-goers are encouraged to take a chair and/or picnic rug.

Tamworth Regional Council secured a $10,000 grant from the NSW Government's Festival of Place – Summer Fund to make the event possible. The event is also supported by 88.9 FM and WIN Network.

Due to social distancing rules the region's Australia Day Awards ceremony will be a little different this year with a single awards ceremony held at Ray Walsh House on Tuesday 26 January 2021 for limited numbers of guests but will be streamed live online.

It will include the formal citizenship ceremony as well as the presentations of awards to recognise the efforts of residents from around the region.
