Australia Day Flag Giveaway

Fairfield City Council is giving away thousands of Australia Day flags to residents in the lead up to its Australia Day celebrations.

Fairfield City Mayor Frank Carbone said Australia Day is an important day for all Australians, and wants flags readily available for residents to fly on 26 January, demonstrating the community's pride in our nation.

"Being Australian is a privilege and we should always be proud to fly an Australian flag," Mayor Carbone said.

"Our community is proud to be Australian, and Council is proud to support events that encourage our community to come together as one and proudly fly the Aussie flag, celebrating what unites us all.

"Please come along, collect your flag and display it proudly. Australia Day is an important day in the calendar for us to celebrate being Australian and the Australian way of life, whether we were born here or came here from somewhere else, and to recognise and respect the past."

Flags are available to collect from Fairfield City Council's Administration Centre, libraries, and leisure centres from today, Monday 19 January 2026. They will also be available at the community event at Adams Park Canley Vale on Australia Day – which will cap off the day's celebrations with a fireworks display at 9pm.
