Australia Day road closures, Main Beach

Gold Coast police would like to advise motorists of a road closure tomorrow at The Spit, Main Beach.

Large crowds are expected to gather at The Spit on Thursday January 26.

Motorists are advised that travelling in the vicinity may result in delays due to large volumes of traffic and diversions that will be in place.

Police have been working with stakeholders to ensure minimal disruption to traffic and to ensure public safety standards can be maintained.

Police will also be monitoring and addressing any antisocial behaviour, particularly in regard to liquor offences.

Members of the public are reminded they cannot consume liquor in a public place and by doing so could face fines of $137.

Please expect the following road closure from 8:00pm Wednesday January 25 to 4:00pm Thursday January 26:

  • Moondarewa Spit access road at the intersection with the Doug Jennings Park Ring Road.

Please be aware that police will monitor the traffic flow on the Doug Jennings Park Ring Road which may also be closed dependent on traffic.
