Australia Seeks Input on Critical Minerals, Strategic Materials Lists

Dept of Industry, Science and Resources

The Australian Government reviews the lists periodically to check which minerals should be included.

  • Critical minerals are essential to modern technologies, our economy and national security, and are vulnerable to supply chain disruption. They can be metallic or non-metallic elements or materials.
  • Strategic materials are important but do not meet all the criteria required for inclusion on the Critical Minerals List.

These lists help us to identify the strategic importance and supply risks of different minerals and materials. They help guide government policy and support in line with the Critical Minerals Strategy.

Your feedback will help us plan policies, programs and initiatives to support the sector and a Future Made in Australia.
