Australia Urges Census Test Completion

The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is reminding households in Census Test locations that there's still time to complete the Census Test.

The Test includes 60,000 households in and around Rockhampton, Gladstone and Yeppoon (Qld), Melbourne (Vic), Perth, Albany and the Wheatbelt region (WA), Coonamble and Gilgandra (NSW), and Katherine (NT).

Census Test night was Tuesday 5 August. Selected households received instructions from the ABS on how to take part.

Census General Manager, Jenny Telford, encouraged households who received an invitation to complete their forms.

"Thank you to everyone who has already completed the Census Test. If you haven't completed your form yet, there's still time," Ms Telford said.

"Your participation will help us improve the Census process so our next Census in 2026 is easier to complete and produces high quality statistics."

The Census Test asks questions about your household on Census Test night, Tuesday 5 August 2025. It is important to include everyone on your form who stayed in your house that night, including visitors and babies.

If you haven't yet responded, you may receive a reminder letter or a visit from a Census Field Officer. If you subscribed to the Census Test through myGov, you'll receive a reminder in your myGov Inbox.

There is a range of information available to help you complete your Census Test at www.census.abs.gov.au/help. You can also call 1800 181 227.
