Armidale Regional Council is excited to announce the Australian Cricket Association (ACA) Masters Cricket Tour will be coming to Armidale on February 25 and 26, 2021.
It will be a jam-packed couple of days of cricket and fun events for all, and will be the largest sporting event the region has seen in a long time.
The ACA General Manager - Member Programs and Relations - Kelly Applebee says the Association is pleased to be bringing the event to a community that was impacted by last summer's bushfires.
"Our players place an enormous emphasis on helping out the community and we're looking forward to connecting with local cricket clubs and community members, "she said.
"The tour will also provide a unique opportunity for local families to rub shoulders with some greats of the game."
The event will boast the likes of Australian cricket legends Mark Cosgrove, Jason Krezja, Julia Price and Scott Coyte, with more masters players to be announced in the coming weeks.
"This will be a fantastic opportunity for cricket fans of all ages to learn a trick or two from the greats at one of the school clinics , or just have a chat at the Sporties Night set to be held at the Armidale City Bowling Club," said Armidale Regional Council General Manager James Roncon.
"The biggest drawcard of the tour though will be the highly anticipated T20 match on the Friday night."
If cricket isn't your thing, there is still an opportunity to take part in the event, with a golf morning planned for the Friday.
"This is such an exciting event, and Armidale Regional Council has ensured it will be one that everyone can attend, with entry to the T20 match just a gold coin fee, and entry to the Sporties Night only $5, with proceeds going to the Armidale District Cricket Association," said Mr Roncon.
Mr Roncon says it won't only be a huge event for sporting fans, but it will be a needed boost for the whole region.
"This event is something that will benefit all facets of the Armidale community, whether that is local sporting fans, the Armidale District Cricket Association, or local businesses that will benefit from the extra people in and around town supporting the event," he said.
"It's been a tough year, and this is just what we all need to start 2021 on the right foot."
Numbers will be restricted at both events, and the T20 event will be capped at 3000 people and will not be ticketed. There will however be tickets available for the Sporties Night through trybooking.com.
