Member for Katherine, Jo Hersey, said the Northern Territory Government and Katherine community welcomes the support.

"The people of Katherine have showed our community spirit at its finest, from hero Police jumping out of helicopters onto cars to save people, the Katherine Club providing meals for volunteers and emergency service workers, and One Set Builders ferrying people over a flooded Florina road in their tinnies," she said.

"But our people are exhausted, and we need more support, the announcement of ADF support is very welcome."
