Author and activist Jack Toohey will stop at Cessnock Library to speak about – and sign copies of – his new book Better Things Are Possible: How Rebellious Hope Will Change The World between 11am and 12pm on Saturday 15 November.
The book offers a powerful counter-narrative for those who feel overwhelmed by the state of the world and the big issues of our time, asserting that a more sustainable and equitable Australia is an achievable reality.
It argues that a collective shift towards becoming informed, connected, and actively engaged is the key to building a better future.
Toohey, an Australian creative director and activist, rose to prominence with a viral video contrasting housing affordability across decades, which attracted more than 20 million views.
Better Things Are Possible: How Rebellious Hope Will Change The World has been described as essential reading for anyone seeking to replace cynicism with resilience and contribute to a brighter future.
Acting Library Services Co-ordinator Amanda O'Hearn said the event promised to be inspiring and thought-provoking.
"This book tackles some of the most pressing issues of our time with a refreshing perspective grounded in hope and actionable change," said Ms O'Hearn.
"It's a vital reminder that even in the face of complex challenges, our collective agency is a powerful force for good."
