When a pair of Avoca mates thought their holiday couldn't get any better, they received a life-changing phone call from lottery officials revealing their $2.3 million Saturday Gold Lotto win.

The Bundaberg residents held one of the six division one winning entries nationally in Saturday Gold Lotto draw 4659, drawn Saturday 14 March 2026. They look forward to $2,316,653.04.

"We're amazing mate!" one of the winning men exclaimed when we relayed the win.

"We're driving to our holiday that we already had booked in! We can't believe this has happened!

"We decided around Christmas time last year that we would share a Saturday Gold Lotto ticket every Saturday. We've only been doing this for a couple of months. I'm still in complete shock.

"It's been the best decision for us.

"We're definitely going to have some celebratory beers when we can put our feet up!"

When asked how the pair planned to each use their $1.15 million share of the winnings, the explained that the prize would help them finally enter the housing market.

"We will buy a house each. It's absolutely amazing," he revealed.

"My mate is also going to buy into my business, which is fine by me!

"Thank you very much!"

Their winning 50-game entry was purchased at Avoca IGA, Shop 1, 302 Branyan Drive, Avoca.

Avoca IGA manager Christopher Harwood said he was pleased to bring some happiness to the community amidst a very challenging week with the floods.

"We're super excited to have sold our first division one winning entry and it's created a great buzz through our community," he said.

"With all the flooding in Bundaberg this week, this is a great uplift for the community. We're so excited for our local shopper and feel blessed to have sold the entry.
