ADVICE TO THE PUBLIC:
MINOR FLOODING POSSIBLE AT KALKARINDJI MONDAY MORNING
Recent moderate rainfall across the upper Victoria catchment has caused river level rises along the upper Victoria River at Kalkarindji. The river level at Kalkarindji may reach the minor flood level Monday morning.
Rainfall is forecast over the next few days which may cause further river level rises. The situation will be closely monitored, and this warning will be updated as required.
A Flood Watch is current for parts of the Bonaparte and Northwest Coastal River catchments, including the Upper Victoria River.
Upper Victoria River:
Minor flooding is possible along the upper Victoria River.
The Victoria River at Kalkarindji is currently at 7.67 m and rising, below the minor flood level. The Victoria River at Kalkarindji may reach around the minor flood level (9.00 m) Monday morning. Further rises are possible as upstream flows arrive.
Safety Advice:
Don't drive, walk, swim or play in floodwater because it is dangerous.
Stay away from flooded drains, rivers, streams and waterways.Obey road closure signs. Plan ahead so you don't drive on flooded roads.Check the ABC and local media for updates.
